Emma Raducanu made it to the third stage in three out of four Grand Slams in the current campaign.

The British tennis star Emma Raducanu will not compete in her final two events in 2025 due to the illness she has been battling over the past 10 days.

Raducanu, aged 22 was scheduled to compete in Tokyo and Hong Kong but opted to return home to regain her health ahead of launching her preparations for 2026.

Those preparations are set to feature trainer Francisco Roig, as both individuals have agreed to work together again next season.

She underwent blood pressure monitoring while playing the initial match against Ann Li in Wuhan last week and withdrew when losing 6-1 4-1 on a very muggy occasion.

She again required a doctor's assessment at the Ningbo Open this week, where she fell in a three-set match to local wildcard Zhu Lin in the first round.

Her movement was noticeably restricted in the deciding set in the match with Zhu because of the lower back problem that has affected her at times this year.

Such performances followed a positive campaign, in which the player advanced into the international top 30 for the first time in more than three years, concluded with three straight losses.

Raducanu had three match points then was defeated by Pegula in round three in Beijing last month.

The player achieved 28 matches during 2025 and reached the semi-finals in the Washington tournament, but the highlight of her season was at March's Miami Open.

Ranked first in Britain made the last eight of a premier WTA event, defeating eighth seed Emma Navarro on the way before losing in a three-set match to Pegula, ranked fourth.

She was coached by trainer Mark Petchey between Miami and Wimbledon, with Francisco Roig stepping in ahead of the US Open.

The first plan with Rafael Nadal's former coach was for the remainder of the year but they will keep working together, with a training block pencilled in in the coming months.

Raducanu told that the trial session with Roig post-Wimbledon was like a "covert operation" as they aimed to maintain secrecy.

The player was close to beating world number one Aryna Sabalenka at their initial event as a team in Cincinnati in August.

The coach also accompanied Raducanu in the New York tournament, where she made the third stage before being beaten by 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina.
