Rob Edwards as well as O'Neil Among Wolves Managerial Contenders

Edwards along with O'Neil are two of the initial names in the frame to replace Vitor Pereira as head coach of Wolves.

The previous coach was sacked on the weekend after the team's ten-game winless beginning to the Premier League season.

And both candidates - both of who have previous links to the club - are part of the names to be evaluated by the club leadership.

Edwards is currently at Middlesbrough, which would create a possible hurdle to his appointment at Molineux.

Nevertheless the former Luton Town manager - who made more than 100 of games for Wolves during his time as a player - is said to be a strong contender for the vacancy.

The mid-career manager is said to have support from the club board as they start the process of hiring a fresh head coach.

Gary O'Neil is also emerging as a unexpected candidate, even though he would be a surprising choice given he was released by Wolves in December last year.

The ex- West Ham player is out of work which means Wolves would not be required to provide any compensation.
