Jurgen Klopp admits coming back to lead Liverpool is theoretically possible.

The German coach, who left Liverpool in 2024, has suggested that rejoining the club remains a possibility. Klopp, post a game-changing nine-year spell which brought continental glory and the Premier League crown since 1990, has since taken on positions overseeing worldwide football with the Red Bull group and providing guidance with the German Football League.

Supporters’ Hopes and Klopp’s Candid Remarks

They secured the Premier League in the previous campaign, though countless followers who revere Klopp would welcome the possibility that he might come back one day. During an extensive chat, he shared with Steven Bartlett: “I stated I refuse to lead a different club in England. So that means in case it's my former club...yes. Theoretically it’s possible.”

“I’m 58, so the choice could be mine later on, who knows. Do I have to make the decision today? If so, I wouldn't return. Fortunately, it's not necessary. I'll wait and observe how things unfold.”

Conditions for a Comeback

Pressed on the specific conditions would need to occur to bring him back to the dugout, Klopp admitted he isn't eager for a comeback. “It's unclear to me, I love what I do right now,” he stated. “No longing for management; I don’t miss standing in the rain through long matches; I'm glad to skip press conferences multiple times weekly or doing numerous chats a week.

“No nostalgia for the changing area in that context, however, dining out with the players having a nice chat, is pleasant. Success was frequent thus frequently great spirits in the building. I still have the captain's chuckle vividly recalled to illustrate.”

Commending Arne Slot

He commended for his successor, praising him for the tweaks that took the title last term. They've been defeated four in a row in all competitions after a summer spending spree, though he denied the notion of it representing a slump.

“[Liverpool have] a top-class attacker such as Wirtz, critics will regret if spoken against. An outstanding player. The French striker, superb talent. They have a strong well-judged squad. No need for concern regarding the Reds, they'll bounce back.”

Emotional Tribute for Diogo Jota

Klopp also spoke emotionally regarding the passing of the Portuguese star, a player he signed while in charge, and its impact at the club. Jota lost his life in a vehicle collision with his brother in July.

“Can you substitute somebody like Diogo? It’s not about his on-field talent, it’s the guy he was. I struggle to conceive the team environment without him in it. I find it difficult to discuss about it. A devastating blow for all the boys too. Not a single person would cite it for poor performances though it's a fact. Being in that space which he filled completely. Handling this on a personal level is not easy. Overwhelming.”
