Comedian and author David Walliams lost his contract with longtime publisher.

David Walliams

Prolific children's author and comedian David Walliams has parted ways with his longtime publishing house, as confirmed by the firm.

An official for the publisher said: "After careful consideration, and under the leadership of its new CEO, HarperCollins UK will not be releasing any new titles by David Walliams."

It has been reported that the move was taken subsequent to an inquiry regarding claims about inappropriate behaviour involving female individuals.

The firm has not elaborated on the specific rationale behind the move, adding: "We do not comment on internal matters."

A Highly Successful Publishing History

Walliams ranks among Britain's most best-selling authors for kids, having sold over six tens of millions of copies worldwide in 55 languages.

The debut children's novel from Walliams, *The Boy in the Dress*, was released through HarperCollins fifteen years ago.

A number of his books, such as *Gangsta Granny* and *Billionaire Boy*, have found new life as TV movies.

His bibliography includes in excess of 40 works combined, which features a holiday title called *Santa & Son*, which was released through HarperCollins this past October.

Television and Literature

His initial claim to fame came on the broadcast sketch program *Little Britain* and has also won National Television Awards for his role as a panelist on *Britain's Got Talent*.

He was awarded an OBE in 2017 for his services to philanthropic and artistic endeavors.

The publisher's decision comes after the naming of Kate Elton as HarperCollins UK's new chief executive in October.
