British boxer Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Nigeria Following Tragic Road Accident

Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, Nigerian authorities stated on Wednesday evening. The fighter was part of a serious road collision near Lagos on the 29th of December, a horrific crash that claimed the lives of two of his team members.

Under Observation for Minor Injuries

The boxer had remained in the hospital while recuperating from non-critical injuries, representatives stated earlier on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on X that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to continue his recovery at home.

“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two friends who passed away as they were being readied to be sent home,” the commissioner stated.

Remembering the Victims

The victims of the crash were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. Omotoso added that the champion was filled with sorrow and full of emotions over the loss of his two trusted companions.”

The news of his discharge comes as the boxing community shared its support for the champion in the following the devastating accident.
