Brian Eno Encourages Backing to Propel Palestinian Solidarity Lullaby to UK Christmas No 1.
A campaign is aiming to send a Palestinian lullaby to the peak of the festive singles chart. The campaign aims to deliver assistance to communities in Gaza while also showcasing Palestinian cultural expression.
A Chance for Support and an "Surprise Victory"
Musician and artist Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a chance to show solidarity with Palestinians during the holidays. He remarked the potential for an unlikely festive coup.
“It would be fantastic if that came to pass, yes,” he stated. “I wouldn't be completely disappointed if it doesn’t, festive releases are a category of their own.”
Defiant Message of Freedom and Dignity
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the reimagining of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's resilient spirit.
“It has a profound significance for a lot of people,” Barghouti shared. “It’s basically saying that I would prefer a dignified death than spend my life without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we desire to exist a dignified life that we merit as a people.”
Production History and Star-Studded Lineup
The single was laid down following a major charity concert held in September. Initially planned to be done as a live recording, the performance was shelved during the concert due to the event running long.
The diverse array of performers contributing to Lullaby encompasses a range of acclaimed names from the music world. All participated in the September show, which successfully generated a considerable total for charitable causes.
Final Touches and Availability
Lullaby was crafted by a group of music creators. The track blends a combination of the traditional Arabic lyrics with freshly written English words.
The organizers behind the initiative have emphasized that their objective is to raise as much as possible for a dedicated fund. These resources will be allocated to Palestinian causes through an established charity.
“We haven't set a fixed goal,” a spokesperson commented. “We aim for the maximum achievable. Naturally, the more the merrier. All proceeds are directed out to the people of Gaza.”
The situation in the area was described as its profound destruction, with a overwhelming percentage of infrastructure said to be destroyed or damaged.
“In that context, a few million doesn’t make a massive dent. But I think what truly matters is above all making this cause better known and proving the human dimension of the story.”
The single 'Lullaby' is set to be released on Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the benefit event will be made ready to watch on a popular streaming site from the 19th of December.
