Barça to Host First Fixture at Upgraded Camp Nou on Saturday

Barcelona have announced they are set to host at the partially upgraded Camp Nou over the weekend. The club will host the Basque side in domestic competition 30 months after they moved out so building work could begin.

“Returning home was our dream. Finally, it’s happening. We are back at Spotify Camp Nou.”

The stadium will not be at full capacity though over 45,000 attendees can be present as per the current authorization. When completed, the Camp Nou is due to hold close to 105,000 fans, a rise from the old capacity. Barça announced recent additions comprise a new players’ tunnel along with upgraded changing facilities.

Preparatory Events

Barça organized an open training session inside the stadium earlier this month. They mentioned they are seeking authorization by UEFA for their upcoming Champions League fixture facing Eintracht on 9 December at the stadium. They have been hosting matches in the temporary ground.
